We met at the car park near Pym’s Chair on a very cold morning

So who was Pym? This might help.

We set off down the road – I wasn’t sure that losing all this height was such a good idea!

At the bottom of the hill we took a left turn along a track

We rounded a partially derelict farmhouse

This car seemed to have been parked up for some time!

The views were stunning

but there were only the sheep to share them with

and there were lots of them about

But there must be frogs about as well – and these had not gone unnoticed – were those Canada Geese tracks to the right. Do they feed on the spawn or do you think they just took a drink?

We took our break where a house once stood – and wondered who once lived here.

and envied them their view from their front door

Then onward and upwards as we regained all that height we had previously lost, and a bit more – in one short stretch

until we reached Shining Tor

with its splendid path along its ridge.

We took in views

in every direction

as we enjoyably sauntered along the gradual descent back to the car park.
