We passed a cottage which was being renovated. They were replacing the old yorkshire stone roof with an Indian stone roof.

Setting off across the farm land we passed the remains of an old farm vehicle…

…someone had left a sketch of what it had once looked like.

We headed down into Bollington.

Bollington really has great views…

…which get even better as you go up the Nab.

At the top we took our break…

…with brilliant views…

…in every direction.

On the Nab there is a trig point.

We headed back the way we had come. Passing the house of the ‘grumpy’ self appointed guardian of the path. A path which some people tried to close.

The fine weather had made the Sun Flowers ‘happy’.

They positively grinned…

…and the contrasting foliage stood out.

We headed up one of Bollington’s many paths…

…and down past some sluice gates…

…and its pond behind…

…and then past the Viceroy Restaurant – which is up for sale.

We looked back across Bollington to the Nab where we had been.

Before passing a house decked in Virginia Creeper…

…before heading back to the canal for the last leg of our walk.

The canal ran over the road.

A Buddleia plant was covered in Butterflies…

…with Small Tortoiseshells

…and Red Admirals in abundance.

All worth extra looks!

Dragging myself away from the butterflies we walked past the Clarence Mill…

…and then past our friendly Heron…

who is even undisturbed by passing traffic!

After the finish of the walk we decided to try the food at the Windmill pub.

They look set to have a good October.
