Wet – but undaunted

It was a really wet Monday morning, but there was blue sky in the distance.

001

7 turned up to brave the weather. As a result of a mix up people went to different starting points, but we soon all met up and set off down Smithy Lane, behind the Robin Hood inn. Umbrellas were much in evidence.

005

No butterflies about today…

007

…only lots of puddles…

008

…but all looks very green…

009

…as we headed off into the country side.

010

A good harvest of blackberries were about and some of us feasted on them throughout the walk.

011

The stiles and steep paths had been made treacherous by the rain and much care had to be taken.

012

We took our break sheltering under a tree…

016

…just by Heyshead farm…

013

…where little yellow flowers adorned the hedges.

017

We passed a beautiful stone house with a fine display of Lilies.

018

An abandoned land rover was being reclaimed by nature.

019

Whilst the drive opposite was guarded by wild boar…

020

…gorillas and horses.

021

The blooms by Hedgerow cottage produced a fine display…

022

…as we headed on with Pot Shrigley in the distance.

023

We passed what used to be the Cheshire Hunt pub…

025

…and then I was told we were passing what had once been Mrs. Bunces cafe.

026

We followed the stream…

030

…passing ‘The Time Wheel’ courtesy of Bollington’s Drop-in centre. Which showed Bollington through the ages.

031
032
033

We followed a path…

034

…enjoying its colour…

035

…and the back gardens…

036

…where we found a sign telling us how to get back to Rainow.

038

A pile of disused beehives were being stored there…

040

…but some bees still recognised them as home.

041

Even the horses were sheltering…

horses

…but we had enjoyed our walk.
