Wincle to Barleigh Bridge

On 25th April 2016, 19 of us started out in the wet, hoping for sunny intervals – we met by the Ship Inn in Wincle.

We took the path over the stile almost opposite the Ship.

There were plenty of lambs about…

..and a very friendly donkey.

We headed up the field…

…until we came to the farm with interesting windows.

We took a left in front of the farm and headed down passing some gauze. You could see Bosley Cloud on the horizon.

We picked our way through a wooded path,

passing a ruined cottage on our right.

The mixed woodland to our right showed signs of bursting buds.

We took our break near Barleigh Bridge, close to the start of Dane Valley way.

Crossing the Dane we looked up,

with fields to the right,

until we came to the falls.

Here we crossed the river,

and sauntered back to our starting point, where lambs basked in the sun, which at last lingered for a while.
